SIMULATED TESS PLANET DETECTIONS CATALOG SUMMARY ==================== Contents: Output of the TESS yield simulations for several possible Extended Missions. These are tables analogous to Table 6 of Sullivan et 2015, where each row is a "detected planet", and columns are physical or orbital features of the planet. These files include postage stamps and full frame images (n.b. FFIs are complete only for R_p < 4R_earth). Each file has planets detected over 50 Monte Carlo realizations ('trials') of the code, each of which draws planets and assigns their orbits according to a different random number seed. EXPLANATION OF NAMING SCHEME ==================== The following is the mapping to the names used in the Bouma et al 2017 Extended Mission white paper: nhemi -> hemi npole -> pole shemiAvoid -> not published elong -> ecl_long eshort -> ecl_short nogap -> hemi+ecl hemis14d -> allsky Files named '*newPlanets*' are planets that were not detected in the primary mission, but were detected after 1 year of the Extended. '*uniqPlanets*' is the "superset" of all unique planets detected over all 3 years. '*dubPlanets*' is planets that were detected after 2 years of observing, and then also detected after the third year (with their updated phase-folded SNRs). Explanation of dates: 160729* and 161122* kept the minimum number of transits for detection at 2. 160802* and 161122* set it at 1. (In order to produce the small number of plots in the white paper that drew from this) With this scheme, all the post-processing done in Bouma+ 2017 can be reproduced. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW: ==================== * A summary of these data and the methods taken to obtain them are in a white paper by Bouma, Winn, McCollough, and Kosiarek. This includes remarks on changes since the Sullivan+ 2015 (hereafter, S+15) paper. * The major assumptions of Sullivan+ 2015 (hereafter, S+15) hold. We use planet distributions from Kepler occurrence rates. TRILEGAL, our galactic model, is modified in the M dwarfs to match EB radii and Interferometric radii. * The total yield numbers have changed slightly with "as-built" PSFs from Lincoln Labs being used in the optical model (which knocked them down), and a (minor) modification of S+15 postage stamp procedure. The overall yield picture for postage stamps remains similar -- about 1650 planets are detected in them. * Cuts (same as S+15): no stars with T_eff > 15,000K. No transits with depth > 0.1 (avoids WDs). Neither of these results in many "lost" transits. Same SNR threshold as outlined in S+15 (detection modelled as a step function with threshold SNR set at 7.3 to correspond to one false positive in the postage stamps).
